Eating according to how you feel
If you are feeling spacey, erratic and unsettled
Favour the following:
Sweet, Sour and Salty tastes
Sufficient quantity, unctuous (oily) food and drinks.
Yellow mung beans (green skin removed), red lentils.
Squash, zucchini, artichokes, asparagus, young eggplant, carrot, beetroot, sweet potatoes with oil or butter, tomato, cucumber, celery. Spinach in small amounts. Cumin, ginger, asafeotida (hung), fenugreek, cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, anise, fennel, good salt, black pepper, mustard seeds, lemon juice and tamarind. All others in small amounts. Ripe, sweet and juicy fruits. Dried fruit is better soaked or stewed.
If you are feeling hot, stressed and critical
Favour the following:
Sweet, Bitter and Astringent tastes
Food not too hot. Cool or luke warm drinks according to preference.
Yellow mung beans (green skins removed), small kidney beans. All vegetables except hot peppers (tomato in small amounts).
Coriander, cumin, ginger (fresh), turmeric, saffron, fennel, cinnamon, cardamom, lemon juice, mint leaves All fruits should be ripe and sweet, not sour or green.
If you feel heavy, congested and lethargic
Favour the following:
Pungent, Bitter and Astringent tastes
Lighter diet, dry, warm food and warm drinks.
Leafy green vegetables, asparagus, artichoke, potato, cabbage, beetroot, carrot, cauliflower, broccoli, celery, peas, capsicum, Brussel sprouts, zucchini, tomato, young eggplant, okra. All spices except salt. Especially hot and pungent ones. Pomegranate, grapes, cranberries, raisins, figs, peaches, apples, papaya, guava, pears.
